OVs must be kept informed of on-going developments in Vietnam

(VOVworld) – The Vietnamese Party and State always hail the contributions of overseas Vietnamese to national development and consider them an inseparable part of Vietnam, said President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Nguyen Thien Nhan. During a Sunday meeting in Ho Chi Minh City with the VFF, overseas Vietnamese from several countries including Japan, Germany, the US, the UK, and Poland briefed each other on major developments in their host countries.

They discussed advantages and challenges in connecting overseas Vietnamese and getting them involved in various activities to contribute to national construction and defense. President Nguyen Thien Nhan acknowledged their opinions and highlighted the importance of keeping overseas Vietnamese updated on developments in Vietnam. He said the Front will urge the government to set up specific action plans to promote the teaching of the Vietnamese language to overseas Vietnamese.

Later on Sunday Mr. Nhan visited Priest Nguyen Cong Danh, president of the Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics, who is under treatment at Thong Nhat Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City.
