(VOVworld) – An ongoing exhibition in Paris features the working and living conditions of the first Vietnamese brought to France by the French colonial government in the early 20th century to serve in World War I. 100 photos of “Vietnamese people in the First World War (1914-1918)” will be on display by the Vietnamese People's Association in France (UGVF) until the end of this year.

A UGVF leader said at the opening ceremony that the Vietnamese in France are the oldest overseas Vietnamese community. France will mark the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of World War I in 2014, an occasion for the UGVF to commemorate Vietnamese people who served in the war but have not been honored in France’s commemorations.
