(VOVworld) – Party and State leaders offered incense to pay tribute to late Party General Secretary Nguyen Van Linh in his hometown, northern Hung Yen province, on Monday as part of a ceremony marking his 100th birthday.

The delegation of leaders of the Party, State, Vietnam Fatherland Front, and Hung Yen province laid floral wreath at the statue in honor of late General Secretary Nguyen Van Linh.

 
At the event, Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong reviewed the life, career, contributions, and revolutionary spirit of late General Secretary Nguyen Van Linh.

Mr. Trong said over the past 70 years of his career, in all positions, the late Party leader always won the trust of the people and did the best for the Party and people. He was steadfast to the ideal target for the national freedom and socialism and successfully fulfilled the assigned missions.

Mr. Trong said: “late Party leader Nguyen Van Linh accompanied southerner compatriots in the two resistance wars and made great contributions to the national renewal process. As the first Party leader to lead and organize the implementation of the Party resolution on the renewal process, Mr. Linh and the Party Central Committee devised proper and creative policy on renewal in conformity with Vietnam’s practical situations.”

According to Party chief Nguyen Phu Trong, “this offered a firm foundation for Vietnam to overcome difficulties to successfully implement the renovation, gain initial important results, develop the national economy and social affairs, reinforce the national security and defense, and gradually improve people’s living conditions. Party leader Nguyen Van Linh was praised by both the Party and the people as a staunch and prestigious communist and an outstanding student of President Ho Chi Minh.”
