Party chief calls for Soc Trang Buddhist followers’ more contributions to society

(VOVworld) – Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong has praised contributions made by Buddhist monks, nuns, and followers from Soc Trang province’s Buddhist Shangha over the past years to preserving and developing the cultural and religious values of ethnic groups in the southern region.

Party chief Trong made the remarks at Monday’s meeting with members of the provincial Shangha’s Supreme Patriarch and Executive Councils.

He said he hopes the local Buddhist community will remain united and contribute further to society.

He said he believes that the province’s Buddhist Shangha will continue to tap the patriotic tradition of Buddhism, expand their Buddhist knowledge, and responsibly implement government policies and state law to become model Buddhist followers.
