(VOVworld) – Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong visited Soc Trang province on Monday as part of his tour of the Mekong delta provinces.

The purpose of his visit was to overhaul the province’s socio-economic development, security and national defense, Party building, and preparations for Party congresses at all levels.

In Ngoc To commune, My Xuyen district, Mr. Trong asked locals to continue with the new rural development program, upgrade the infrastructure system, develop human resources, and renovate production methods in order to achieve sustainable growth.

On the same day, he met with representatives of the Soc Trang provincial Buddhist Shangha. He said he hoped that the Shangha would continue to enhance unity with other religions and the locals to contribute more to the province’s development and building a prosperous people and a strong, democratic, equal, and civilized nation.
