President Tran Dai Quang attends ceremony honoring Vietnamese farmers

(VOVworld) - The Vietnam Farmers Association has celebrated its 86th anniversary in a ceremony in Hanoi on Friday. Speaking in the event, President Tran Dai Quang reiterated the State support to help boost comprehensive agriculture towards modern and sustainable model for better farmers’ lives.

Farmers’ political role has risen as they account for 70% of the population and 50% of the national workforce.
The President said farmers will be assisted in gaining development and integration opportunities, social welfare and risk mitigation support: “Scientific and technological application should be boosted in the countryside to help farmers promote their innovation in production towards large scale production. The Farmers Association at all levels should help members in rural economic restructuring so that they could benefit from industrialization, modernization and international economic integration.”

The President conferred the title “Farmer of Excellency” to 63 farmers in recognition of their successful production and agricultural farming.
