(VOVworld)- President Truong Tan Sang attended the inauguration ceremony of the Attapeu International Airport in Attapeu province, Laos on Saturday. 

The airport is one of Lao’s key projects. Hoang Anh Gia Lai Group funded the Lao government with 36 million USD to build the airport under the BOT model. Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Lao Party leader and President Chummaly Sayason said:“Vietnam and Laos have special friendship. Under the leadership of the two countries’ Politburos and with efforts of relevant ministries and Hoang Anh Gia Lai group, the Attapeu international airport was built. The airport will facilitate people-to-people exchanges, and promote bilateral cooperation in economics, investment, trade and tourism. This project will help tighten bilateral ties”.

President Truong Tan Sang said that the project reflected the fine development of bilateral economic cooperation: “The modern international Attapeu airport will contribute to upgrading the infrastructure of Attapeu province. It will help facilitate the traveling between Attepeu and other provinces and strengthen cooperation between Vietnam and Laos. The airport will also help increase people-to-people exchanges.”
