(VOVworld) - Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved the National Action Plan on Gender Equality in the 2016-2020 period.

The program focuses on improving the capacity of communications agencies in order to raise public awareness of gender equality and change behaviors towards gender equality. Under the plan, 'the action month for gender equality and prevention of gender-based violence', starting from November 15^th is implemented with various activities, including building a theme and message for the action month and honoring individuals and collectives making outstanding contributions to gender equality, the advancement of women and the prevention of gender-based violence among others. Other content of the action plan include evaluating and enhancing the capacity of elected female officials, National Assembly female deputies and female leaders from central to grassroots levels in order to put forth appropriate policies related to the training, planning and appointment of female officials.
