The 8th session of the 13th National Assembly wraps up

(VOVworld) - National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung said deputies have spent a lot of time discussing socioeconomic issues to make the right decision for national development. He was speaking at the closing session of the year-end National Assembly’s month long meeting: “2015 will be the pivotal year in the fulfillment of targets decided by the 11th national Party congress and the 13th National Assembly ahead of the next 5-year plan and national Party congresses at all levels. The National Assembly requests more efforts in macro-economic stability, improvement in public investment, administrative reform, national security and defense potential build-up to firmly secure national independence and sovereignty.”

During this session, the National Assembly has passed 18 laws and 11 resolutions, commented on 12 draft laws while supervising economic restructuring in public investment, state owned enterprises and the banking sector. Votes of confidence have been carried out in 50 positions elected or ratified by the National Assembly. Chairman Hung said this generated valuable experience for votes of confidence for positions elected by People’s Councils nationwide: “Voters’ opinions have been absorbed in earnest and democracy. The National Assembly Standing Committee and the government have been asked to map out plans to implement resolutions passed during this session. Deputies will report to voters key outcomes of the session timely to mobilize support and unity for national development.”

The National Assembly passed resolutions on votes of confidence, economic restructuring in public investment, state owned enterprises and the banking sector, educational curricula and text book reform.
