(VOVworld) – UK’s Conservative Party on Monday confirmed that Home Secretary Theresa May is set to become its leader.

The 1922 Committee Chairman Graham Brady said the result of the election will take effect immediately, and May will be the next UK’s prime minister after the questions of David Cameron in the parliament on Wednesday. Cameron said May will take over from him after his resignation to the Queen on Wednesday, adding that he will host the final cabinet meeting in his career on Tuesday.    

Theresa May became the only contender when Andrea Leadsom quit the race. May committed to make Brexit a success, noting that the UK won’t make any efforts to stay or rejoin in the EU.
