Top legislator departs UAE after attending female parliament speakers summit

(VOVworld) - National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan on Wednesday left the United Arab Emirates’ capital of Abu Dhabi after attending the 11th Global Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament.

The visit was made at the invitation of President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Saber Chowdhury and President of the Federal National Council of the UAE Amal Al Qubaisi. The Summit approved the Abu Dhabi Declaration “United for shaping the future, for a better world". The Vietnamese delegation’s attendance at the Summit reflects Vietnam’s international integration, and the growing importance of Vietnam and its legislative body in regional and global parliament forums, as well as affirming Vietnam’s commitment to gender equality.

NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan said the Declaration shows the group’s commitment to overcoming global challenges such as poverty, climate change, inequality, terrorism, and extremism.

During her visit, NA Chairwoman Ngan met with representatives from the Vietnamese Embassy and the Vietnamese Community in the UAE, and briefed them on the contribution of the Vietnamese delegation to the Summit. She praised the embassy’s efforts to promote friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and the UAE.
