UN General Assembly condemns US sanctions on Cuba

(VOVworld) - 188 over 193 members of the UN General Assembly voted on Tuesday for a resolution condemning the decades-long US economic sanctions against Cuba. This has been the 23rd time UN members overwhelmingly back the resolution titled "Necessity of Ending the Economic, Commercial and Financial Embargo imposed by the United States of America against Cuba, submitted by the Cuban government every year. The only countries that voted against the declaration were the US and Israel while the Pacific island nations of Palau, Marshall Islands, and Micronesia abstained. The General Assembly's non-biding vote reflects UN members’ view over the matter so Washington still remains its sanctions against Havan.
