White House spokesperson Eric Schultz told reporters on Monday that Washington is working out how the Brexit decision will affect these negotiations. He added that if the US has to start negotiating separately with the UK, that will be an advantage because they have had years of progress and work completed with the European Commission.

EU officials pledged their efforts to reach the TTIP deal after the unprecedented vote. According to Cecilia Malmstroem, Commissioner for Trade on EU Trade Policy, EU members are clear and united in their trade policies and will continue negotiations with their key partners. She was determined to make as much progress as possible in TTIP negotiations in the months to come. Mamlstroem arrived in the US on Tuesday to prepare for TTIP negotiations and advance the trade agreement with Canada.
