Vietnam, Cuba hold defense talks

(VOVworld) – Officials from the Vietnamese Defense Ministry and Cuba’s Ministry of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (MINFAR) held a defense policy dialogue in Havana on Thursday.

Both sides agreed to boost their ties for more practical and effective results so as to increase defense capabilities for safeguarding national independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity. They also agreed to work closely with each other towards the signing of a cooperation plan and hoped that the cooperation will become a vital factor in the lasting Vietnam-Cuba relations.

The Vietnamese Deputy Defense Minister, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, reiterated Vietnam’s wish to boost friendship and cooperation between the two armies and between the two Parties, States and people.
For his part, MINFAR Minister Senior Lieutenant General, Leopoldo Cintra Frias, said that Cuba treasures its friendship with Vietnam and will forge ahead despite economic difficulties.

Vietnamese and Cuban defense officials discussed how global and regional issues affect their respective country’s security and defense. The Vietnamese delegation concluded their official visit to Cuba on Thursday.
