Vietnam expects Hongkong to stabilize the situation soon

(VOVworld) – Answering reporters’ question about Vietnam’s view over Hongkong’s protest for democracy, a spokesman for the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry Le Hai Binh said it is China’s internal affair. He said Vietnam expects the Hongkong administration will have appropriate measures to soon stabilize the situation and ensure people’s safety and assets.

Binh talked about measures to protect Vietnamese citizens there. “The Vietnamese Foreign Ministry has asked the Consulate in Hongkong to carry out appropriate measures to ensure safety for those Vietnamese living and working in Hongkong. The Vietnamese Foreign Ministry has recommended Vietnamese citizens do not go to protest areas to avoid any unfortunate incidents.”  

Regarding information about the 3 Vietnamese victims in the Malaysian airline MH370 crash, Mr. Binh said 2 people had been identified. The Foreign Ministry has informed their relatives in Vietnam and continued to work with the Netherlands and Malaysian sides to identify the third victim as the latest.

Answering reporters’ question about China’s illegal construction on Truong Sa and Hoang Sa archipelagos, spokesman Le Hai Binh said Vietnam has closely watched every development in the East Sea and reiterated Vietnam’s undeniable sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos. Activities by other parties in these areas without Vietnam’s permission are illegal and invalid.
