(VOVworld) – Vietnam’s stock market is one of the five fastest growing markets in the world and was the second-best performer in Southeast Asia in the second quarter of 2016, a press conference held by the State Securities Commission announced on Wednesday.

The VN-Index reached a fresh eight-year peak, while market capitalization also reached the highest level in the past six years. According to the commission’s report, in the first half of this year overseas investors have poured a net value of 720 million USD into the local stock market, an increase of 3.5 times over the same period last year, bringing the total value of foreign investment portfolios up to 16 billion USD, the highest so far. Moreover, industrial production increased by 7.5 % in the first half of the year compared with the same period last year, inflation was controlled, and foreign direct investment worth 13 billion USD increased by approximately 47 %, compared to last year.
