Vietnam vehemently denounces violent acts by Cambodian extremists in Long An province

(VOVworld) - Some 250 Cambodians including several members of the opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) penetrated deeply into Vietnam’s 203 border marker in the southern province of Long An on June 28. Given the illegal act, Vietnamese authorities and local people obstructed their movement and asked them for explanations but suffered attacks by some extremist Cambodians, resulting in 7 Vietnamese being injured.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Le Hai Binh has strongly opposed the violent acts by some extremist Cambodians, violating both countries’ laws, treaties and agreements, harming the progress of border demarcation and good bilateral relations between Vietnam and Cambodia. Vietnam respects comprehensive cooperation and friendly neighborliness with Cambodia and aims for a borderline of peace and friendship. Vietnam asks Cambodian authorities to settle the case properly and prevent its recurrence to facilitate the demarcation for mutual benefit.
