Vietnam-Cambodia Joint Statement

(VOVworld) - Vietnam and Cambodia Joint Statement has been released following Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen’s official visit to Vietnam from Tuesday to Wednesday. The statement wrote that Prime Minister Hun Sen has held talk with Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and paid a courtesy visit Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong, President Tran Dai Quang and met National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

The two Prime Ministers witnessed the signing of 3 cooperative agreements on criminal judicial assistance, transfer of convicted prisoners and ethnicity cooperation. Both treasured the importance of bilateral friendship and cooperation and committed to pursue bilateral relations under the spirit of “good neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation and long-term stability respecting each other’s independence and territorial integrity and not letting any hostile forces using its territory to threaten the other country’s security. They agreed to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties next year and raise two-way trade turnover to 5 billion US dollars in the coming years. Delineation of border and border demarcation shall be completed as soon as possible for peace, stability, cooperation and development.

On Wednesday, the last day of his trip to Vietnam, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen visited Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai province. He visited the historic relic of Delegation 125 in Dong Nai province, the predecessor of a united armed force to liberate Cambodia. This has been recognized as a national historical relic to symbolize bilateral friendship. The same day, Prime Minister Hun Sen met Ho Chi Minh City’s leaders and Vietnamese veterans who fought in Cambodia.
