Cambodia takes over ASEAN Chair for 2012

The 19th ASEAN Summit and related meetings have closed at a ceremony in Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center, Indonesia, on Saturday.  A series of agreements were signed between leaders of ASEAN and its partners, contributing to ASEAN’s enhanced position worldwide. Indonesia’s term as chairman of the group was handed over to Cambodia as next chairman of ASEAN for 2012. Cambodian Prime Minister Hunsen said his country will do its utmost to join other ASEAN members and partners to consolidate the group’s central role in regional cooperation.

After the closing ceremony, Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung left Indonesia for Hanoi. Earlier, he attended the 4th Summit between ASEAN and the United Nations, the 9th Summit between ASEAN and India and the 6th East Asia Summit.
