(VOVworld) - Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has called for the development of the IT sector focusing on human resources, infrastructure and application, creating a momentum for the national socio-economic growth and improving the competitive edge of the economy. Speaking at the first plenary meeting of the National Committee on IT held in Hanoi on Thursday, the Prime Minister, who is Chairman of the committee, highlighted the importance of IT application to the country’s socio-economic development.

He said that priority will be given to building the e-Government, setting up a national database system and a system dedicated to State management, and providing online public services: “We should accelerate our implementation of strategies and policies to turn Vietnam into an IT powerhouse. Ministries and provinces should promote IT application in management and administration to provide best added value services to businesses and people.”
