National Environment Report 2013 released

(VOVworld) – Encouraging results have been recorded in Vietnam’s efforts to protect the air environment, with the legal corridor on this field being improved. According to the National Environment Report 2013, released in Hanoi on Thursday, air pollution caused mostly by dust remains a pressing issue in Vietnam with no significant improvement since the 2003-2007 period.

The report suggests recommendations to the National Assembly and government to minimize risks facing Vietnam caused by several transnational pollution sources. They include reviewing, amending, and promulgating specific legal regulations on the environment while improving environmental management agencies’ capacity at all levels. Appropriate mechanisms and policies are also needed to mobilize all available social resources to contribute to the effort.
