(VOVworld) – The UN Human Rights Council conducted its last discussions of its 28th session in Geneva this week. Participants adopted 34 important resolutions and decisions and 3 President’s statements. The Vietnamese delegation led by ambassador, head of the Vietnamese permanent mission to the UN Nguyen Trung Thanh, has participated in and contributed significantly to discussions and approval of resolutions of the session concerning the promoting and protection of human rights and respecting the UN Charter and international law as well as the economic, cultural and development characteristics of each country. The Vietnamese delegation stressed that the UNHCR should continue to promote constructive dialogue and cooperation and seek appropriate solutions to avoid politicization, which might affect the council’s prestige. At this session, Vietnam co-sponsored 5 resolutions on the implementation of economic, cultural, and social rights, the establishment of an independent UN expert group on the protection of albinos, the right to work, the right to culture and cultural diversity, and the right to food.
