Vietnam supports cooperative dialogue in human rights

(VOVworld) – Ensuring and promoting human rights is first of all the responsibilities of every country where international cooperation on human rights plays an important role. The head of the Foreign Ministry’s Department for International Organisations Hoang Chi Trung made the remarks while addressing Thursday’s session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland, which discussed the High Commissioner for Human Rights’ report on human rights situation in 2013.

He reiterated that socio-economic policies need to ensure all basic rights for the people and pay appropriate attention to vulnerable groups including women and children. The Vietnamese representative praised efforts by the international community, human rights mechanisms of the UN, the High Commissioner for Human Rights, and the Office of the High Commissioner in fostering dialogue and cooperation in this field, including the Universal Periodic Review.
