(VOVworld) A government leader has called for further acceleration of the national program to develop new rural areas, saying localities need to work harder to make the program efficient. Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh was speaking at the meeting of the Steering Board for the program in Hanoi on Friday. He said that this is a long-term program with sustainable goals, which will take time. This year, the focus will be given to communicate to the wider public the policies and how they are put into reality. Equally important is to train the key cadres at localities and finalize the planning.

By now, 63 cities and provinces nationwide have disbursed about 160,000 USD to develop essential infrastructures and spent another 60,000 USD on production models to help people increase income.
