Japan wants to contribute to APEC 2017: Japanese diplomat

(VOVWORLD) - Japan has high expectations for Vietnam’s hosting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Meeting and will continue its own contributions to the event, said Tsutomu Koizumi, Deputy Director General of the Economic Affairs Bureau of Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Koizumi told a Vietnam News Agency reporter in Tokyo that Vietnam is taking a leading role on key issues facing APEC and all APEC meetings so far this year have been practical. The concept of a Free Trade Area in Asia-Pacific was first discussed at the 2016 APEC meeting when Vietnam hosted the mega-event for the first time.
