(VOVWORLD) -The Month for Drug Prevention and Control is being observed nationwide this month with the theme "Drastic and effective prevention and control of drugs, great responsibility, proactive coordination – for a drug-free community."

The Ministry of Public Security has launched a campaign to suppress drug-related crimes nationwide. The Ministry of National Defense is directing its forces to closely coordinate with the police to break up criminal drug rings and trafficking through border gates, airports, and postal and express delivery services, while disseminating messages about drug prevention and control to every neighborhood, household, and individual.
Major General Dang Hong Duc, Chief of Office of the Ministry of Public Security, said progress has been made. “The fight against drug-related crimes by the police force has been intensively deployed, focusing on key areas. Specialized forces have detected and destroyed many large transnational drug trafficking rings. The investigation, prosecution, and trial of drug-related crimes were carried out in a timely manner. International cooperation, especially with neighboring countries, has increased, contributing to early detection and prevention of drug-related crimes.”
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh urged for greater efforts to fight drug, saying, “Drug is a global problem. The world must work together to create a global approach and solution. Drug is a problem of the whole society, a danger to the nation, so we must unite and work together to prevent, repel, and eliminate this dangerous evil. It must be considered a key, urgent, and regular task.”
