The horticulturists brought to the exhibition 300 special apricot trees, from tiny bonsais to trees over 2 meters tall.

Nguyen Van Binh of Cat Tuong commune owns a 33-year-old apricot tree. “This apricot tree has had abundant buds every year since it first bloomed. Its flowers bloom until the full moon of the first lunar month. This year the Organizing Committee and the artisans are showcasing some perfect trees to promote Binh Dinh’s yellow apricots,” said Binh.

The exhibition is an annual pre-Tet event to promote the "An Nhon yellow apricot" brand, a specialty of An Nhon town. Mai Xuan Tien, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of An Nhon town, said: “The exhibition is held at the An Nhon Golden Apricot exhibition area, which was recently put into use. We invited artisans from An Nhon town and other localities.”

The Department of Intellectual Property of the Ministry of Science and Technology has issued a geographical indication certificate for Binh Dinh's yellow apricot trees.

Vo Cao Thi Mong Hoai, Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Science and Technology, said: “Binh Dinh yellow apricot’s geographical indication will help to promote the brand. When our yellow apricot trees are sold in the market, consumers will know that these ornamental plants come from Binh Dinh and have unique characteristics.”

An Nhon town is the main yellow apricot growing area of Vietnam’s central region. Its 340 hectares will supply more than 2 million apricot trees to the market this Lunar New Year.
