This year’s action month for children focuses on preventing incidents and injuries to children, ensuring their rights to life, encouraging the public to call 111, the national hotline for child protection to report any act of child abuse, listen to children, and protect  children with actions, and enforcing the laws to punish all acts of violence against children and child abuse.

Based on the Law on Children and the guiding documents, provinces have organized communications program to raise awareness, and improve skills and capacity on child protection and care among social workers, parents, and children.

Localities have mobilized businesses, organizations, and individuals to help children, who are victims of violence and abuse and give scholarships and gifts to orphans, underprivileged, and ethnic children. In the post-COVID pandemic period, several social issues have impacted children, requiring coordinated-action by all stakeholders.

Dang Hoa Nam, Director of the Department of Children Affairs, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs, said, “The action month for children aims to uphold the responsibility of the local administration in taking care of children and allocating more resources and personnel for child care and protection. Activities are focused on prevention of child abuse, sexual abuse, domestic violence, and school violence. We also need to pay more attention to drastically reducing injuries and drowning for children.”

Child care, protection, and education should be a regular work to ensure that all children have a happy childhood and a bright future.
