COVID-19 “Doctor Support Network”

(VOVWORLD) - With the number of daily COVID-19 infections increasing sharply in HCM City and other southern localities, a “Doctor Support Network” has been set up to help curb the pandemic.

The network is jointly developed by the Information Task Force of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Vietnam Young Doctors Association at the request of the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control..

Its 2,500 doctors, medical staff, and volunteers will offer medical advice to COVID-19 patients and people possibly infected, help localities screen people seeking treatment, and give warnings to quick response and emergency systems to ensure timely help for critical patients.

HCM City’s Department of Health has asked local health care facilities to work closely with the Network. A hotline has been created at 093.95.96.999 to provide emergency medical advice.

Local task forces, emergency 115 centers, and COVID-19 patient coordination teams get information from the Network about high-risk cases that need to be hospitalized or receive emergency help.

COVID-19 field hospitals and quarantine facilities will work with the Network to receive patients who have already been designated high-risk.

The Doctor Support Network is expected to help ease the load of the health care system and ensure prompt treatment of all COVID-19 patients.

The number of infections since the fourth wave of coronavirus hit Vietnam in late April has amounted to more than 210,000, including 120,000 in HCM city, the country’s biggest epicenter.
