Dien Bien prepares for National Tourism Year 2024

(VOVWORLD) - Dien Bien province will mark National Tourism Year-Dien Bien 2024 with 170 programs and events at the national and provincial level. 33 cities and provinces are expected to participate in the event, Dien Bien representatives saidat a tourism promotion conference held in Hanoi last week.

In an address, Vu A Bang, Vice Chairman of the Dien Bien provincial People’s Committee, said the province is calling for investment to enable comprehensive reform in order to prepare for National Tourism Year 2024.

"Determining the role of culture and tourism in the local socio-economic development is an important prerequisite for National Tourism Year 2024 and the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory. We aim to make tourism a spearhead economic sector,' said Bang.

Ha Van Sieu, Deputy Director General of the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, says National Tourism Year 2024 will create business opportunities for travel companies and investors.

Mr. Sieu said: "Trade promotion activities need to be expanded, along with diversifying and improving products in order to further promote Dien Bien province to target markets. Dien Bien province needs to pay more attention to the southern market. Southerners are interested in visiting the northwestern region where Dien Bien is an attractive destination."

The active engagement of Hanoi’s travel businesses and investors is a prerequisite for Hanoi and Dien Bien to strengthen links to create new tourism products.

Tran Trung Hieu, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism said: "To stimulate tourism the two sides will introduce new products and encourage related businesses to strengthen connectivity. We will enhance cooperation, conduct surveys, and promote tours connecting the two destinations."

At the conference, the Tourism Departments of Hanoi and Dien Bien signed an MoU on tourism cooperation in the 2024-2026 period.
