Truong Hai Nhung of the National University in Ho Chi Minh City has given 12 presentations on stem cells at international workshops and publish 22 articles on stem cells. He is the author of 9 scientific studies. Nhung said: “The Ministry of Science and Technology and Party and State leaders have carried out several programs to promote the development of science and technology and support young talents. We hope that the leaders will trust in us as we will to our best to deserve their trust”.

Doctor Vo Thanh Huy is one of 10 outstanding young talents to receive the Gold Globe Award for Science and Technology sponsored by the Youth Union and the Ministry of Science and Technology. Huy has conducted several studies on environment and promoting the application of science and technology: “Scientists want to sell their discoveries to enterprises after they complete them, but many are not applicable. Now, enterprises can commission scientists to make their research more useful. The state will play an intermediary role connecting enterprises and scientists. By doing so, the state will have to spend less money on science and enterprises can influence research directions and scientists will have money to do their job”.

Doctor Vu Thi Ngan, a lecturer at the Quy Nhon University said young scientists should work in teams to promote their creativity. Ngan stressed the need to encourage young overseas Vietnamese scientists to work with foreign partners to gain more research experience.

Young talents and young scientists are an important resource for national development. A favorable environment and incentives are needed to tap their potential.
