Literature and art development in the new period

(VOVWORLD) - The Party Politburo’s Resolution 23 on literature and art development in the new period has contributed to the spiritual foundation and comprehensive development of the Vietnamese people. The outcomes of implementing the Resolution have been discussed at multiple meetings.

Resolution 23 is an important resolution to orient the development of literature and art to meet new requirements. The Resolution reflects the innovative thinking and leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam in national cultural development.

Role of literature and art highlighted

In Resolution 23, the Communist Party of Vietnam affirmed that literature and art are very important fields and an essential need which reflects people’s aspiration for truth, goodness, and beauty. It is one of the great driving forces that directly contribute to building the spiritual foundation of society and the comprehensive development of the Vietnamese people.

The Party deems it an important task to develop literature and art comprehensively and robustly to accelerate national industrialization and modernization and international integration.

It’s important to create more literary and artistic works of high ideological and artistic value that have a great effect on human development and will both guide and meet the cultural and spiritual needs of the people.

To preserve, develop, and promote the values of national literature and art, it’s important to expand international cooperation and selectively absorb the humanistic, scientific, and progressive values of other countries.

The development of Vietnamese literature and art over the past 15 years has embodied patriotism, humanity, and attachment to the nation, and honestly reflected the creativity of the people. During the past 15 years, the implementation of Resolution 23 has been flexible and aligned with national renewal, construction, and defense and the impact of globalization and the 4th Industrial Revolution.

Persuasive statistics at grassroots level

In response to Resolution 23, local governments have invested more in literature and art. Many programs and projects on literature and art have been implemented, creating strong and positive cultural changes.

In Hoa Binh province, over the past 15 years, local writers and artists have created more than 1,000 novels, short story collections, poetry collections, and autobiographies, and more than 800 photographic works and art works have been exhibited. The number of writers and artists in the province has grown steadily. The provincial Literature and Art Association now has 230 members. The province has 1,500 art troupes with tens of thousands of actors and artists. The province has researched, restored, preserved, and promoted many festivals, folk songs, folk dances, customs, and traditional practices of ethnic minorities.

During 15 years of implementing Politburo Resolution 23, artists and writers in Dong Nai province have created tens of thousands of literary and artistic works. Many clubs of southern folk singing, poetry, fine art, and photography have been set up. Many villages have set up classes to teach their children how to speak and write the local language.

In Lang Son developing culture, literature, and art has been included in the province’s action plans and development plans, and international cultural exchanges and cooperation activities have been promoted.

It is a great motivation to build the spiritual foundation of society and the comprehensive development of the Vietnamese people in the new era. Lang Son province has carried out the Resolution in various forms to meet people’s needs and create a favorable environment for artists."

The robust development of literature and art at the grassroots level over the past 15 years demonstrates the importance of Resolution 23.
