(VOVWORLD) - Nghe An province attracted more than 1.6 billion USD in foreign direct investment (FDI) last year, an increase of 67%. This is the first time Nghe An has been among the top 10 localities in Vietnam in FDI attraction.

In 2023 Nghe A licensed 116 new projects, compared to 32 in 2022. New and additional FDI investment capital totaled 1.6 billion USD, ranking 8th among all provinces and cities nationwide.
“This is the first year FDI in Nghe An has exceeded 1 billion USD. Last year, 3 localities entered the 1-billion USD Club – Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Hai Duong, and Nghe An. FDI projects help localities boost production, increase social investment, transfer technology, create jobs, and raise workers’ incomes,” said Nguyen Duc Trung, Chairman of the Nghe An provincial People's Committee.
The increased FDI investment in Nghe An was a result of persistent efforts by the entire political system and the province's determination, constant innovation, and reforms to create a truly open and attractive environment for large projects. In addition to exempting or reducing the corporate income tax for investors in industrial parks, Nghe An implemented a "5 readiness" strategy of planning, infrastructure, premises, human resources, and incentives for investors.
“Nghe An has been persistent in its goals since 2014. We have developed our industrial park infrastructure. We have worked with localities and sectors to speed up site clearance to prepare clear ground and modern infrastructure for FDI projects,” said Le Tien Tri, Director of the Dong Nam Economic Zone Management Board.
Nghe An province intends to maintain its ranking in the top 10 localities for FDI in 2024. It has carried out site clearance of 500 hectares for the VSIP Nghe An II Industrial Park in the Tho Loc Industrial Park, Dien Chau district, and 330 hectares for the Hoang Mai II Industrial Park in Hoang Mai town.
