President Ho Chi Minh hailed the October Revolution as sunlight waking up millions of oppressed people all over the world. He said the Revolution taught valuable lessons that will help secure the total liberation of the working class and mankind as a whole.

October Revolution serves as the loadstar for Vietnam’s revolution

Inspired by the October Revolution, the Vietnamese revolution under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam founded by President Ho Chi Minh has embarked on the path of socialism. Since 1986, Vietnam has carried out comprehensive reformfor socialist-oriented national development.

“The October Revolution ushered in a new era for humankind. It led the way to socialism and changed the lifestyle in many countries including capitalist states. But the collapse of the Soviet socialist system in 1991 provided a priceless lesson for Vietnam’s socialism building endeavors,” Ta Ngoc Tan, Vice Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, explained.

Vietnam persists with socialism

Vietnam has drawn experience from the political upheavals of the Soviet Union and eastern European countries. Its renewal process has followed a consistent guiding principle of reforms based on Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought for national independence and socialism.

Professor Mach Quang Thang of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, said: “Despite pending difficulties, socialism has remained the ultimate goal of Vietnam and several other countries. We will achieve this goal eventually”.

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has underlined the importance of Party building and improving Party leadership, productivity, and economic competitiveness. He said national independence is the prerequisite for socialism.

“We must resolutely safeguard national independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, thwart sabotage plots by hostile forces, and maintain peace, stability, and social order for national development. Other missions include expanding external relations and being a friend and reliable partner of other countries and a responsible member of the international community,” Mr. Trong noted.

Vietnam’s achievements in the struggle for national liberation and socialism building over the past 9 decades have proved the historical value of the October Revolution and the correctness of the path Vietnam has chosen.
