Quang Nam promotes green tourism

(VOVWORLD) - In addition to Hoi An ancient town and My Son Sanctuary, two World Cultural Heritages, Quang Nam province boasts beautiful landscapes and the diverse cultures of the ethnic minority people who live in the Truong Son mountains. The province greatly impressed the hundreds of foreign journalists who participated in a program called “Quang Nam Experience”.

For the last 3 days, journalists from 15 media outlets in Vietnam and scores of foreign colleagues have been visiting rural areas and exploring the products and cultural traditions of local ethnic minority groups. Cheng Chi Lun of the Central News Agency of Chinese Taipei said the beautiful mountains of Quang Nam and its rich ethnic minority cultures are great advantages for developing tourism.

In Co Tu ancient village, Tay Giang district, the vibe of gongs and the unusual Tung Tung Da Da dance of the Co Tu ethnic minority charmed the visitors. Patriarch A Lang Son of A Vuong commune said he feels honored to introduce Co Tu culture to foreign visitors.

Son said: “We’re very happy to welcome friends from other countries and introduce them to our Co Tu culture. In response to Party and State guidelines on green tourism, Tay Giang district has strengthened forest protection and the preservation and promotion of local traditional culture.”

Nguyen Van Luom, the Chairman of Tay Giang district’s People’s Committee, says the district intends to become a green tourist destination to attract more visitors.

Luom said: “Tay Giang district is like a sleeping girl whose beauty needs to be awakened by visitors. We are prepared to give visitors some interesting experiences in order to promote our province’s land, people, and traditions.”

This year, Quang Nam province will host several national events, including celebrations of the 30th anniversary of Vietnam-Republic of Korea diplomatic ties and 50 years of Vietnam-India diplomatic ties, and prepare to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic ties in 2023. Nguyen Thi Thuy Trang, Deputy Director of Quang Nam’s Department of Foreign Affairs, says this is an opportunity to introduce the land and culture of Vietnam’s ethnic minorities to the world.

"The western part of Quang Nam province has great potential for community tourism and growing medicinal herbs. We want to develop our tourism and are calling for investments from China, Japan, India, and the Republic of Korea, who are experienced in growing herbs," said Trang.

Now that the COVID-19 pandemic is under control, Quang Nam province is getting its products, facilities, and human resources ready to welcome visitors once again.
