The Complex is located right in the center of Ha Long City with a view overlooking Ha Long Bay, next to unique rocky islands. The Planning Palace has a unique architecture of “dolphins playing in the waves” while the Museum-Library cluster is a “giant black pearl” receiving 1,000-3,000 visitors a day.

The October 30 Square is always crowded with local residents and visitors, who participate in festivals, and music and sports events held all year round.

Bui Thuy Hai, Director of the Quang Ninh Provincial Library, said: “With an open space, the complex will attract more young visitors. We hope to promote a reading culture in the community. We will organize a book fair annually to make it a trademark of Quang Ninh in summer.”

Since the beginning of this year, 25 large-scale domestic and international events have been held in the Complex. Last year, the Complex hosted a number of competitions at the 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 31), the International Music Festival, the ASEAN+3 Singing Competition, and the Ha Long World Circus Festival.

Quang Ninh has also opened a free music and dance show every weekend at the Palace which accommodates 1,000 seats.

Nguyen Dang Khoa, Deputy Director of the Provincial Art Troupe, said: “This will be an annual event to introduce Quang Ninh’s culture and art to the public. Our Art Troupe will create additional special performances, featuring the identity, culture and people of Quang Ninh and so introduce them to domestic and international tourists.”

Quang Ninh province is continuing to upgrade the complex, turning it into an attractive cultural space, a unique tourist destination for domestic and foreign tourists. The province aims to welcome 15 million visitors this year and more in the years to come.
