(VOVWORLD) - Many cities and provinces in Vietnam have reported new COVID-19 infections but losing their traces. This has made it more difficult to contain the epidemic. The National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control has asked localities and agencies from the central to the grassroot levels to stay vigilant and take resolute measures.
The principles implemented in the fight against COVID-19 include being resolute in preventing, quarantining, and zoning to contain the disease; keeping calm; being persistent with the 5K principle of wearing facemasks, disinfecting hands, keeping a distance, avoiding gatherings, and making health declarations; following the guideline of "four on the spot" (on-site quarantine; on-site treatment; on-site facilities, on-site human resources), and promoting the spirit of fighting the epidemic as an enemy.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh asked the people to stay on high alert against the epidemic, avoid getting panic, and implement creative and flexible measures.
'We need to mobilize all resources and strength to quickly, strongly and effectively fight the epidemic. We need to improve our forecast, harmoniously and effectively combine prevention and attack with more focus on attack while prevention should be a long-term strategy. Localities should stay on high alert, even when no infections are reported,' said Prime Minister Chinh
Ministries, sectors and localities are asked to take coordinated, effective recommended disease prevention measures. Factories and companies are required to strictly follow instructions of the Ministry of Health and work out prompt response plans.
Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, Head of the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, said, 'Localities that haven’t reported infections yet need to conduct Realtime-PCR and quick antigen testing in hospitals, and collect test samples at bus stations, markets, restaurants, and other high-risk areas.'
With the engagement of the whole political system and the public and continuation of achievements in previous fights against COVID-19, Vietnam is confident to contain the epidemic.
