Hung Yen province has 228 OCOP products with a 3-star rating or higher. These products have improved in quality, design, packaging, stamps, labels, and traceable origins.

The province is famous for longan, Dong Tao chicken, Chi Tan turmeric, red bananas, Dai Tap carpentry, and Ban soya sauce.

Many signature products which used to be produced by traditional methods now conform to quality regulations under the OCOP program.

The OCOP-certified products have won the trust of consumers.

Some businesses say that OCOP program is very important for small and medium-sized enterprises. Since introducing their products to the market, they've won customers’ trust and good appraisal.

“To maintain the OCOP product title, we pay special attention to each product’s quality, design, and packaging before introducing it to consumers,” says an entrepreneur".

Meanwhile, some other people say that since getting OCOP certification for their chicken products, they’ve received lots of positive feedback.”

“Since the beginning of this year, when our products were recognized as OCOP products, they’ve been in high demand. The company has to work uninterruptedly, and plans to employ more workers, enhance our product quality, and promotes our products on websites.”

The OCOP program has changed the mindset and production operations of businesses and farmers throughout Hung Yen, who now focus on product quality and bringing their products to the international market.

Tran Thi Thu Hien, Deputy Director General of Tan Viet Hung Capital JSC, which specializes in trading Hung Yen farm produce and specialties, said they hope each customer who uses our products will remember the culture of the ancient Pho Hien of Hung Yen. Since all our products are Hung Yen specialties, we want to introduce Hung Yen’s unique culture to all our customers at home and abroad.

Each OCOP product is required to embrace local characteristics while production areas need to be on a large scale and concentrated and the raw material areas need to be stable.

Hung Yen has recently created organic raw material areas that conform to OCOP standards. This has enhanced the brand and satisfied increasingly demanding domestic and foreign markets.

Hoang Quang Dong of the Hoang Minh Chau Company, which specializes in turmeric products and starch, told VOV, “We’re building an area that meets pharmaceutical requirements to supply raw materials for products like Curcumin turmeric pills for export to Japan, the US, and Europe.”

The success of the OCOP program in Hung Yen is attributed to the local administration’s direction and policies.

Since 2018 Hung Yen has allocated a large amount of local budget helping businesses invest in infrastructure, machinery, equipment, and production technology to produce OCOP products.

The province has strengthened trade promotion, created showrooms to trade OCOP products, and helped businesses and cooperatives sell goods on e-trading floors and participate in domestic and foreign trade fairs.

Nguyen Van Tho, Director of the provincial Department of Industry and Trade, said that the agency has connected OCOP producers with shopping centers, retail systems, and supermarkets as well as set up showrooms to introduce and control the quality of OCOP products to ensure that consumers enjoy quality products.

Hung Yen has implemented incentives to boost agricultural development and the formation of large-scale, concentrated commodity production areas, and provide seedlings and livestock.

The province aims to further promote OCOP programs to create more links in the production and supply chains, develop modern eco-agriculture in the coming time.
