11th East Sea International Conference wraps up

(VOVWORLD) - A number of proposals to build trust, control, and resolve conflicts, and maintain peace and stability in the East Sea were discussed at the just concluded 11th East Sea International Conference in Hanoi.

During the two-day meeting, participants expressed their concerns about the expansion of illegal construction in the East Sea. They said competition for marine resources and oil and gas exploitation is the main cause of instability in the East Sea.

The conference themed “Cooperation for regional security and development”, was co-hosted by the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, the Foundation for East Sea Studies (FESS) and the Vietnam Lawyers Association (VLA). It brought together 50 speakers and 250 officials, scholars, and diplomats from Vietnam and neighboring countries.
