(VOVworld) - The 2017 Ban Flower Festival opened in Dien Bien province on Sunday attended by National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

Mua A Son, Chairman of Dien Bien provincial People’s Committee, addressed the opening ceremony of the festival “The festival is held in mid March annually coinciding with the anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu campaign, a glorious milestone in Vietnam’s history of national construction and defense. The festival aims to honor and protect cultural heritages and introduce Dien Bien Phu land and people to domestic and foreign friends and visitors so as to promote local tourism.”

During the 3-day festival, there are a photo exhibition, an exhibition of traditional culture of ethnic groups, a festival of folksongs, and a beauty contest.
