(VOVworld) -  A meeting to mark the 24^th founding anniversary of the DK1 platforms was held on Friday at the headquarters of the DK1 Battalion of the Naval Force zone 2 in the southern city of Vung Tau.

The first DK1 platform whose construction was finished on July 5, 1989 marked a milestone in national sovereignty defense of the southern sea waters continental shelf. Over the past 24 years, officials and soldiers on DK1 platforms have always successfully fulfilled their tasks of protecting national sovereignty of sea, islands, and continental shelf. The DK1 Battalion has been granted honorary titles including the Hero of the Armed Forces in the Renewal Process in 2005 and the Order for National Defense, 2^nd class.
