45th anniversary of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic ties marked

(VOVWORLD) - Friendship and political trust have been a firm foundation for cooperation between Vietnam and Japan, said Pham Minh Chinh, Politburo member and President of the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Parliamentarians’ Group, at a ceremony in Hanoi on Tuesday.

The event was co-organized by the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Association, the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Association, and the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam to mark the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries. Mr. Chinh said state diplomacy, people-to-people exchanges, and parliamentary diplomacy have all been reinforced.

Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Umeda Kunio said more than 120 events have been held in the two countries to mark the anniversary, and 50 more will be held before the end of the year. He said Japan and Vietnam share numerous strategic interests, while leaders and people forge closer ties and stronger trust.
