(VOVworld) – Vietnam’s GDP per capita has reached more than 1,300 USD and its market has been expanded to other 149 WTO member countries.

The figures were released at a seminar on Vietnamese enterprises’ competitiveness after 5 years of WTO membership held by the Communist Review and the Ministry of Industry and Trade on Friday in Hanoi. According to economists, the number of Vietnamese enterprises have increased 2.3 times and their registered capital have been up 7.3 folds compared to 2007. Many Vietnamese enterprises have established their status in the regional and global markets with average export revenue increasing by 19 percent from 2007 to 2011. Vietnam has expanded its exports to 19 markets earning more than 1 billion USD. Nguyen Tien Vuong, Deputy General Director of the Ha Noi Trade Corporation said: "We have seen much progress since Vietnam’s admission to WTO. Enterprises pay more attention to their trademarks. Challenges of WTO membership provide an impetus for us to reform management to expand markets and raise export turnover".

Economists agreed that after joining the WTO, Vietnamese enterprises’ competitive edge has been much improved but remained unstable.
