8th Phan Chau Trinh Culture Foundation awards

(VOVworld) – The 2015 Phan Chau Trinh Culture Foundation awards were presented to 5 individuals on Tuesday for their great contribution to renovating Vietnam’s culture and education.

Outstanding individuals were presented with Phan Chau Trinh awards.

The “For the culture and education cause” award went to Professor of music Nguyen Vinh Bao, who has promoted the traditional music of Vietnam’s Southern region. Teacher Pham Toan and the Sail group also won this award for their efforts to renovate education. Researcher Pham Hoang Quan was also honored for his outstanding research on the East Sea. Translator Nguyen Nghi won the “Translation” award and the “Vietnamese studies” award was presented to American Professor Keith Weller Taylor for his achievements in research and promoting Vietnamese culture and history to the world.

The Phan Chau Trinh Culture Foundation, run by the Viet Nam Union of Science and Technology Associations, instituted the awards in 2008. The awards honor the national hero, poet and cultural expert Phan Chau Trinh, a native of central Quang Nam Province.
