ASEP-11 was hosted by Cambodia via video conference. The Vietnamese delegation was led by Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man.

Mr. Samrin said participants proposed solutions to bolster regional cooperation in multiple sectors and honor their commitments to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He urged ASEP member parliaments to double their efforts to implement the SDGs by adopting laws and policies that balance economic development and environmental sustainability.

ASEP-11’s joint statement affirmed the role of parliamentary diplomacy and inter-parliamentary partnership in promoting peace, security, and sustainable, inclusive development. It encouraged the coordination of ASEP and the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) and stressed how important inclusive dialogues, trust building, and diplomacy are to preventing wars and conflicts.

ASEAM partners were asked to show stronger cooperation in vaccine production and distribution to ensure equitable access to vaccines and sufficient vaccination coverage to re-energize economic activities.

The ASEP-11 joint statement will be presented at ASEM-13, which is scheduled for November 25-26.
