Themed “Promoting peace and sustainable development in Asia”, the three-day APA-9 brought together delegates from 23 member parliaments, observers, and APA’s international partners.

The declaration applauded Asia’s continued achievements in socio-economic development and expressed deep concern over serious issues such as terrorism and violent extremism which have undermined security and peace, the foundation for sustainable development around the world.

The declaration called for countries’ active cooperation in response to climate change and delivery of commitments under the Paris Agreement, adopted by the 21st Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

Underscoring the importance of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, the event urged implementation of the 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development, particularly the socio-economic and environment goals.
