Banking sector must perform well its role as lifeblood of the economy: PM

(VOVWORLD) -Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Monday urged the banking sector to perform well its role as the lifeblood of the national economy and stressed the importance of 2024 in implementing the five-year socio-economic development plan 2021-2025.

Addressing a conference in Hanoi held by the State Bank of Vietnam connected with the bank’s branches in the 63 cities and provinces nationwide, Prime Minister Chinh assigned the sector with tasks for 2024.

“The banking system must be timely and effective and helps the Government out of a passive position in the rolling out of monetary policies. There should not be congestion in the circulation of money so that the economy can develop quickly but sustainably."

"Do not let people and businesses lack capital when they need support from the banking and credit institution system. There should not be negativity, corruption and loopholes in the banking system management. It is necessary to make the banking system develop quickly, comprehensively, inclusively but sustainably,” said PM Chinh.

The Prime Minister requested a review of credit conditions and more flexibility to  support businesses and people in accessing credit capital. He called for efforts to ensure the safety of credit institution system, enhance the application of information technology, digital transformation, and increase labor productivity.
