(VOVworld) - An expert consultation workshop on the Bill on Beliefs and Religions opened in Hanoi on Thursday. The bill covers new issues in comparison to the existing ordinance on beliefs and religions, including religious practices by foreigners in Vietnam and the rights to meet religious needs for people under detention.
Monk Thich Bao Nghiem is Deputy Chief of the Vietnam Buddhist Shangha’s Executive Council: “The law on beliefs and religions must be kept open to promote positive contribution by religious followers in social activities, such as education,  healthcare and humanitarian movements.”
Participants called for a minimization of decrees and circulars under the law to prevent obstacles to beliefs and religious practices.
