Boosting Vietnam-UK trade ties

(VOV) - Vietnam and the UK should increase economic, trade and investment cooperation and promotion to fully tap their potential. Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung made the proposal while receiving UK Minister of Trade and Investment Lord Green in Hanoi on Wednesday. Vietnam will do its utmost to deepen this fine relationship in a broad and effective manner, Dung told Lord Green. He expressed hope that the UK will support Vietnam in its ongoing negotiations of a free trade agreement (FTA) with the European Union, provide high levels of official development assistance (ODA), and increase cooperation in civil aviation with Vietnam.He proposed that the UK increase scholarships and simplify procedures, making it easier for Vietnamese students to study in this European country. He also proposed that the UK invest in building educational institutions in Vietnam.

Lord Green confirmed that the UK attaches importance to developing cooperative ties with Vietnam. He assured Dung that the UK will work closely with Vietnam to effectively implement agreements reached by the two countries’ top leaders, including those on economic, trade, investment, and education-training cooperation. The UK Minister also proposed both sides increase educational cooperation and cultural exchange to promote mutual understanding.
