Buddha’s birthday celebrated

(VOVWORLD) - President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Thien Nhan sent congratulation to Buddhist dignitaries and followers on the occasion of the 2561st Buddha’s birthday.

During his visit to the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s second office in Ho Chi Minh city on Sunday, Mr. Nhan said Buddhist have taken part in all patriotic movements of Vietnam, taken care of the poor, paid debt of gratitude, encouraged the people to build a healthy lifestyle in residential areas, developed education, and protected the environment. He said the Party, State, and the Front continue to create the best possible conditions for the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha to boost its role.

The same day, Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh visited Most Venerable Danh Nhuong, Deputy Patriarch of the Sangha Council of Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Can Tho city. Mr. Binh said the Vietnamese Party and State consider the ethnic groups including the Khmer people an inseparable part of Vietnam’s national unity bloc. He added the Party and State always respect and protect the right to freedom of religions and beliefs, ensure religious practices, develop the economy, and create favorable conditions for religious followers, including the Khmer Nam Tong Buddhist sect to exercise their rights and obligations to the fatherland.
